GMCGlobal Maths Club

Getting started

Install Global Maths Club and create your account

Install the app

Download the installer for your platform from the download page. The app runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

The app is not code-signed yet (signing is on our roadmap), so each system shows a warning the first time you run it. This is expected: the troubleshooting page walks through each one.

Windows

  1. Download the .msi installer.
  2. Double-click it. If Windows shows a SmartScreen warning, see the fix.
  3. Follow the installer steps, then launch Global Maths Club from the Start menu.

macOS

  1. Download the .dmg disk image.
  2. Open it and drag Global Maths Club into Applications.
  3. On first launch, macOS may say the app "cannot be verified"; see the Gatekeeper fix.

Linux

Two formats are available:

  • .AppImage: works on most distributions. Make it executable, then run it:

    chmod +x global-maths-club_*.AppImage
    ./global-maths-club_*.AppImage
  • .deb: for Debian and Ubuntu:

    sudo apt install ./global-maths-club_*.deb

Create an account

You need an internet connection the first time, to create the account.

  1. Open the app and choose Create an account.
  2. Enter your name and email address, and pick a long password of at least 16 characters. A sentence you can remember works well.
  3. A verification email is sent to you. Open it and click the link. If it doesn't arrive, check the spam folder; you can ask for a new one from the app after a minute.

You can also continue with a Google or GitHub account: the app opens your regular browser to sign in, then sends you back to the app. If the browser asks for permission to open Global Maths Club, allow it.

Working offline

After the first sign-in, the app works without an internet connection:

  • Notes and exercises are stored on your computer, not in a remote account you must reach. Your work is there with or without a connection.
  • You stay signed in offline for up to 7 days at a time. After that, the app asks you to connect once and sign in again; your work is untouched either way.
  • When a connection is available, the app syncs in the background. Nothing is lost while offline.

Switching language

The app, this site and all emails exist in French and English. On the website, use the FR / EN toggle in the header. In the app, the language follows your system settings and can be changed in the app's settings.
